RiscStation Ltd. Overview

Our company’s aim is to promote the use of the RISC OS operating system with its strengths over less reliable disk based alternatives.

With many companies dissatisfied with the unreliability and exposure to the many viruses targeted certain operating systems RiscStation is promoting the use of RISCOS as a viable alternative.

With many companies also switching to Linux, RiscStation are also promoting the advantage that the low power consumption that the RiscStation machines offer in this format.

The power consumption of the NetWORX model is 5W (excluding monitor) or 450mW in standby mode. For more details please look in the Products section.

Company Background

How did RiscStation Ltd. get started?

RiscStation Ltd. was formed by Roy Heslop, the Managing Director, from CTA Direct a major player in the prior Acorn Computer market.

With a history of supplying both Acorn & PC solutions it was easy to see the obvious advantages of the RISC OS system in the many machines that are 10 years old or more that are still in productive use.

This is due to usability of the operating system, reliability of the hardware and the low cost of maintenance and support. This is typically a 10th of that of a Generic PC.
